Transfer Station Working Group recommends $26.05 wage for attendant role.

Transfer Station Working Group · Meeting of March 20, 2026

NEW MARLBOROUGH — Transfer Station Working Group recommends $26.05 wage for attendant 1. The vote passed 4-2, with Tara White and Chuck Loring opposed, citing concerns about town-wide pay consistency relative to highway department rates. Chair Freddy Friedman and members Marc Trachtenberg and Gardiner Morse emphasized that the attendant position is becoming more complex and will require increased technical, operational, and customer-facing capabilities as staffing changes unfold.

The group also proposed reducing FY27 contingency funding to $2,500 while using those funds more flexibly for operational needs, and agreed that a one-year hauling contract with fuel-price indexing is advisable given diesel volatility.
