Transfer Station Working Group moves forward with full redesign; phased approach rejected.
Transfer Station Working Group · Meeting of January 26, 2026
NEW MARLBOROUGH — Transfer Station Working Group advances full redesign over staged alternative. Chair Freddy Friedman and member Gardiner Morse supported proceeding with the complete project as previously voted, rejecting member Tara White's proposal to begin with the back road only. Marc Trachtenberg's motion to proceed passed 1–1–1 (Chuck Loring abstaining), with the understanding that legal, engineering, DEP, and site-marking approvals remain before construction begins.
The group directed Berkshire Engineering to update site drawings, assigned a term sheet for lease holder Maurice Brazie, set a June deadline for ordering the grant-funded bear-proof compost container, and tasked members with obtaining roof pricing ($20,000–$27,000) and private plowing quotes (estimated $10,000 annually).
