NEW MARLBOROUGH — Transfer Station Working Group approves revised draft missions and advances permit redesign. The group, chaired by Freddy Friedman and including Tara White, Marc Trachtenberg, Chuck Loring, and Gardiner Morse, moved forward revised job descriptions for transfer station attendants designed to broaden the applicant pool by removing formal educational requirements and allowing flexible scheduling. Members identified communications gaps across six town channels, with only 81 of roughly 400 permit holders enrolled in the alert system, and agreed to explore opt-out enrollment at permit issuance.
Tara White presented a permit-process revision based on the Sheffield model requiring annual household confirmation of transfer station or private waste service use, with Marc Trachtenberg assigned to collect current resident mailing addresses as a next step.
