New Marlborough Select Board unanimously appoints Finance Committee member, constrains FY 27 spending. Chair Beth Dean and members Tara White and Bill West approved Sharon Fleck to fill a Finance Committee vacancy through May 11, 2026, with Finance Committee Chair Doug Newman recommending the appointment. The Board then declined or reduced multiple departmental budget requests, including rejecting a $26,539 Winter Roads increase, an $18,000 Police salary bump, and a seasonal $30,000 Highway position left vacant by retirement.
The school assessment rose to an estimated 5.8 percent, prompting the Board to approve only a new six-month Rescue Chief medical officer position at $32 per hour.
