NEW MARLBOROUGH — Planning Board holds public hearing on Protective Bylaw revisions ahead of Special Town Meeting. Chair Bob Hartt outlined three categories of changes: building-code alignment requested by Building Inspector Matthew Kollmer, administrative clarifications, and Attorney General–recommended updates on cannabis cultivation and accessory dwelling units. Vice Chair Jordan Archey led discussion of revised permit terms and dwelling-unit definitions; the board clarified that slaughterhouse facilities would require special-permit approval in rural districts only.
Fifty-five in-person and four virtual attendees raised concerns about work-vehicle signage restrictions on accessory dwelling units and proposed future consideration of artificial intelligence facility regulations.
