Historical Commission approves new construction pause bylaw for historic villages
Historical Commission · Meeting of January 20, 2026
New Marlborough Historical Commission unanimously approved a proposed new construction pause bylaw for the town's historic villages. Chair Dr. John Schreiber reported the draft, similar to the town's existing demolition bylaw, would require a comment period from abutters and neighbors but would not prohibit construction.
Commission member Fiona Kerr recommended including village maps in the bylaw to identify protected areas to residents. Dr. Schreiber will present the revised draft, incorporating Planning Board input, at a future Planning Board meeting.
